Live Betting – Advanced Tips
You’re ready to take on the world of live betting. Congratulations. Live betting is an exciting and challenging alternative to traditional sports betting, and nowadays many online sites offering the best online roulette, blackjack, poker and other gambling games have live-action
bets in their portfolios. If you’re going to do live betting, however,
you should try to do it right. Here are some advanced tips for taking full
advantage of the opportunities afforded you with live betting.
Tip 1: Bet with Your Head, not Your Heart
Just because your team scored the first goal doesn’t mean you need to
jump online and start betting on them. Your team was a 3-to-1
underdog for a reason, and while that first goal does provide some
advantage, it may not be worth an even-money bet against a team that is an
established powerhouse. Remember that what happens in the game will result
in an adjustment of the live betting line. While this adjustment will
usually keep the line fair, it will sometimes result in a situation that is
not in your favor, and if you don’t do your research and carefully
analyze the situation, you are going to cost yourself more money than if
you stuck to traditional sports betting.
Tip 2: Be Wary of Hedging
When you start out with live betting, it will be tempting to go back and
bet the other way every time the tide turns against you. The live betting
site will be very happy if you do this. What will probably end up happening
is that you’ll have even money on both sides and just end up losing the
commission, which is all the live betting site is in it for anyway.
Whenever in the game you decide to make your bet, you should probably just
stick to it, or put more money on the same side if you must.
Tip 3: Locking the Win
The only exception might be if there is a big odds shift and you can
“lock in” a big win. For example you bet $100 on one side getting
5-to-1, but at halftime your team has a healthy lead and the odds are down
to even money. You could assume your guys are going to ride it out and
you’ll win the $500, but you could also bet $200 on the other side. Now
if the other team comes back and wins, you’ll still clear about $100, and
if your team holds on, you’ll win about $300. You’ve locked in a $100
win. "
